Ravings on CS, OSs, PLs, SF, and other things geeky...
I registered at the tigris.org website sometime a good while back. I can’t even remember the specific reason for my registration but undoubtedly it was because of some bug report I wanted to file. Now, colour me surprised when I receive a spam like bounced mail that has my user name at tigris.org as the *to* address. I didn’t even know my registration came with a full fledged forwarding address. I confirmed my suspicion by sending a mail to the same address and sure enough it was dutifully forwarded by my hitherto unknown address to my real, registered one. I must have missed this bit in the EULA for their web site. Even though I searched the registration settings I couldn’t disable this surprising feature. I just hope that this isn’t a new fad and that all registrations will now come with a new shiny and easily spammable address.
